London - Part II - Buckingham Palace

Once we had arrived in London, met the grandparents and settled in it was late afternoon, so we decided to head out to Buckingham Palace.  I had looked it up ahead of time and the changing of the guard ceremony was cancelled when we were in London for Good Friday, so it made sense to just head over to the palace whenever we wanted.

We walked to the Palace through Hyde Park where the kids found a lovely playground and some of the biggest swans I have ever seen!  We saw the Princess Diana memorial fountain.  As we walked through the park it started to rain a bit, but the temperature was warm so it was still pleasant.

The palace was crowded with tourists (including us!) but we could see everything we wanted to.  We happened upon a special gate covered with Canadian Provincial Coats of Arms and when we were looking at the Alberta Coat of Arms we met a fellow Calgarian.

We continued our walk down to Trafalgar Square where we ate dinner in a busy pub.  After that we were all pretty tuckered out, so we took the tube back to the hotel, where we met my husband and had a quiet evening.
